WDI Group (Surrey) Ltd
Boiler Installation Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to boiler installation and replacement works undertaken by WDI Group (Surrey) Ltd and should be read together with our Standard Quotation Terms & Conditions and the individual quotation.
1. Existing Heating System
Unless specifically included within the quotation, a boiler replacement does not include replacement of existing radiators, valves, pipework, pumps, controls, hot-water cylinders or other components of the existing heating system.
Connecting a new boiler to an existing heating system may expose weaknesses, corrosion, leaks, restrictions or defects which were not apparent before the works commenced. WDI Group is not responsible for pre-existing defects which could not reasonably have been identified beforehand. Any additional remedial work required will be discussed with the Client and may be chargeable.
2. Gas Supply & Safety
Before or during installation, WDI Group may carry out appropriate tests of the existing gas installation. If a gas leak, unsafe appliance, inadequate gas supply or other safety issue is identified, WDI Group must act in accordance with applicable gas-safety requirements.
Any work required to rectify a pre-existing defect or make the existing installation safe is not included unless specifically stated. Where existing gas pipework proves inadequate for the new boiler, additional upgrading may be required.
3. Heating System Cleaning
Unless otherwise stated within the quotation, a standard chemical flush of the heating system and addition of suitable corrosion inhibitor are included as part of a WDI Group boiler installation.
A chemical flush is not the same as a powerflush. A powerflush or other enhanced system-cleaning procedure is not included unless specifically stated and separately quoted.
Where WDI Group recommends a powerflush because of the condition of the existing heating system, this will be discussed with the Client and quoted separately. Where a powerflush is undertaken, WDI Group's separate Powerflushing & Heating System Cleaning Terms & Conditions will also apply.
Any form of system cleaning may expose existing corrosion, leaks, restrictions or deteriorated components. Repairs arising from pre-existing deterioration are not included within the boiler installation price unless specifically stated.
4. System Water Quality
On completion, the heating system will be filled and treated with a suitable corrosion inhibitor where required. The Client is responsible for maintaining the heating system appropriately following installation.
Repeated draining, topping up, leaks or alterations can dilute or remove inhibitor and contribute to corrosion and sludge formation. Manufacturer warranty claims relating to poor system water quality may be rejected where installation, maintenance or water-quality requirements have not been followed.
5. Existing Radiators & Pipework
A new boiler may operate at different temperatures, pressures and flow rates from the appliance being replaced. This can expose weaknesses within existing radiators, valves, joints and pipework.
In particular, converting an older open-vented heating system to a sealed/pressurised system may reveal leaks or weaknesses which were previously not apparent. Where such problems arise because of the pre-existing condition of the heating system, repairs or replacement will be chargeable.
6. Boiler Location
The quotation is based upon installing the boiler in the location stated or agreed at the time of quotation. If the Client subsequently requests a different boiler position, additional pipework, flue components, condensate drainage, electrical work, building work or labour may be required and charged as a variation.
7. Flue Installation
The boiler flue will be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and applicable regulations. The final position may need to be altered if site conditions or regulatory requirements prevent the proposed arrangement.
Where access panels, additional flue components, plume-management kits or other works become necessary and could not reasonably have been identified beforehand, these may be chargeable.
8. Condensate Drainage
Condensing boilers require a suitable condensate discharge. Where reasonably practicable, existing suitable drainage may be reused. If the existing arrangement is found unsuitable, blocked, damaged or non-compliant, additional works may be required.
External condensate pipework can be susceptible to freezing during prolonged cold weather. WDI Group will install condensate drainage in accordance with applicable requirements but cannot guarantee externally routed pipework will never freeze under extreme conditions.
9. Controls & Smart Thermostats
Only controls specifically listed within the quotation are included. Where smart thermostats or internet-connected controls are installed, online features depend upon the Client's internet connection, Wi-Fi coverage, compatible device and third-party manufacturer's services.
WDI Group is not responsible for failures of the Client's internet service, Wi-Fi network, mobile device or third-party cloud services.
10. Electrical Supply
The quotation assumes the existing electrical supply serving the boiler is suitable unless electrical alterations are specifically included. If existing wiring, earthing, bonding, controls or protective devices require remedial work before safe commissioning, additional electrical work may be necessary.
11. Water Pressure & Flow
Where a combination boiler is installed, hot-water performance depends upon incoming mains-water pressure and flow rate. WDI Group will size and recommend equipment based upon information and conditions reasonably available at quotation.
A combination boiler cannot provide a greater sustained water flow than the incoming mains supply can support. Changes or fluctuations in mains-water pressure are outside WDI Group's control.
12. Making Good
Reasonable making good will only be carried out where specifically included. Where an existing boiler or flue is removed, WDI Group cannot guarantee an exact match to existing brickwork, render, tiles, paintwork, kitchen units or other finishes. Painting and decorating are excluded unless expressly included.
13. Commissioning
On completion, the boiler will be commissioned in accordance with manufacturer's requirements and applicable regulations. Relevant commissioning documentation will be completed where required. The Client will be provided with reasonable information regarding operation of the boiler and controls.
14. Building Regulations Notification
Where required, qualifying boiler installation work will be notified through the appropriate competent-person scheme or other applicable process. Relevant compliance documentation will normally be issued following successful registration. The Client should retain this documentation.
15. Manufacturer Warranty
Where applicable, WDI Group will register the boiler for the manufacturer's warranty using Client and installation information provided to us.
The length of manufacturer's warranty depends upon manufacturer, boiler model and applicable promotional or installer scheme. Manufacturer warranties are provided and administered by the manufacturer and subject to its individual terms and conditions.
16. Annual Servicing & Manufacturer Warranty
The boiler must be serviced at intervals required by the manufacturer to maintain the manufacturer's warranty.
Unless the relevant manufacturer specifies otherwise, the Client should ensure the boiler receives an annual service within each 12-month period following installation and continues to be serviced annually throughout the manufacturer's warranty period.
It is the Client's responsibility to arrange and pay for annual servicing unless a separate WDI Group service or maintenance agreement has been entered into.
Failure to have the boiler serviced within the manufacturer's required servicing intervals may invalidate or affect the manufacturer's warranty. WDI Group cannot accept responsibility where a manufacturer refuses a warranty claim because the Client failed to comply with servicing or maintenance requirements. The Client should retain evidence of each annual service.
17. WDI Group Workmanship Warranty
Unless expressly stated otherwise on the quotation, WDI Group provides a 12-month workmanship warranty from the date of completion.
This covers defects arising directly from installation workmanship carried out by WDI Group. Where WDI Group agrees a longer workmanship warranty, this must be expressly stated on the quotation.
The WDI workmanship warranty is separate from any manufacturer's product warranty. It does not cover manufacturer product failures, pre-existing defects, existing system components, normal wear and tear, misuse, accidental damage, lack of maintenance, alterations or interference by third parties, or faults unrelated to WDI Group's installation workmanship.
Nothing within this warranty affects the Client's statutory rights.
18. Magnetic Filters & System Protection
Where a magnetic system filter is included, it should be inspected and cleaned during routine boiler servicing. A magnetic filter and corrosion inhibitor assist in protecting the heating system but do not guarantee corrosion, sludge or future contamination will never occur.
19. Client-Supplied Boilers or Components
Where the Client supplies the boiler, controls or other equipment, the Client is responsible for ensuring it is correct, suitable, undamaged and complete. Additional labour or visits caused by missing, incorrect or defective Client-supplied equipment may be chargeable.
WDI Group's workmanship warranty applies to our installation work but does not provide a product warranty for Client-supplied equipment.
20. Completion & Payment
The installation will be considered substantially complete when the boiler has been installed, commissioned and is capable of normal operation, notwithstanding minor outstanding cosmetic or non-essential items which do not prevent normal use.
Payment becomes due in accordance with the payment terms stated on the quotation. Any legitimate snagging or warranty issue reported following completion will be dealt with in accordance with WDI Group's obligations and does not automatically entitle the Client to withhold the entire outstanding balance.
21. Acceptance
By accepting a quotation for boiler installation or replacement, the Client confirms acceptance of the individual quotation and scope of works, WDI Group's Standard Quotation Terms & Conditions, these Boiler Installation Terms & Conditions and any other specific terms identified within the quotation.
Nothing within these terms affects the Client's statutory rights.
