WDI Group (Surrey) Ltd
Boiler Servicing Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to boiler servicing undertaken by WDI Group (Surrey) Ltd and should be read together with our Standard Quotation Terms & Conditions and any individual quotation, booking or service agreement.
1. Scope of a Boiler Service
A boiler service is a routine inspection, safety check and maintenance procedure carried out in accordance with the appliance manufacturer's requirements and applicable gas-safety requirements.
The service does not constitute a complete inspection of the property's entire heating, plumbing or gas installation unless specifically agreed.
2. Existing Faults
A boiler service is not a repair or fault-finding visit.
If the boiler has an existing fault, is displaying a fault code, is intermittently failing, losing pressure, making abnormal noises or is otherwise not operating correctly, the Client should inform WDI Group when booking.
Additional diagnostic or repair work may be chargeable.
3. Faults Identified During Servicing
If a fault, defect, leak, unsafe condition or failed component is identified during the service, WDI Group will advise the Client.
Unless specifically included within the service price, replacement parts, repairs and additional diagnostic work are chargeable separately.
Where practicable, WDI Group will obtain the Client's approval before carrying out additional chargeable work.
4. No Guarantee Against Future Failure
A boiler service represents the condition and operation of the appliance at the time it is inspected.
Completion of a service does not guarantee that the boiler or any component will remain fault-free for any particular period afterwards.
Boilers and their components can fail following servicing due to age, wear, deterioration, intermittent faults or other causes unrelated to the servicing work.
5. Access & Removal of Components
The Client must provide reasonable access to the boiler, controls, flue and other areas required to complete the service.
Certain components, seals, covers or combustion-chamber parts may need to be removed or disturbed as part of servicing.
Where an existing component is found to be deteriorated, seized, damaged or unsafe for reuse, replacement may be necessary before the appliance can be safely returned to service.
Any such replacement will be discussed with the Client and may be chargeable.
6. Safety Issues
If WDI Group identifies an unsafe gas appliance or installation, we are required to act appropriately in accordance with applicable gas-safety procedures.
This may include advising the Client that the appliance should not be used, isolating the appliance where appropriate, or taking other necessary safety action.
The service charge remains payable for the work undertaken even where an appliance cannot safely be left operational.
7. Gas Leaks & Existing Installation
Where appropriate, checks may identify problems with the existing gas installation which are outside the scope of the boiler service.
Any work required to investigate or rectify an existing gas leak, defective gas pipework or other installation defect is not included within the standard service price unless specifically stated.
8. System Pressure, Leaks & Heating System
A boiler service does not constitute a full inspection of the heating system.
Existing leaks, pressure loss, circulation problems, sludge, radiator faults, defective valves, pumps, controls or pipework problems may require separate investigation.
The boiler service charge remains payable irrespective of whether additional heating-system defects are identified.
9. System Water Quality
Where reasonably possible, the engineer may visually assess accessible system water or system protection as part of servicing.
A standard boiler service does not include chemical cleaning, powerflushing or correction of contaminated heating-system water unless specifically stated.
Where poor water quality, sludge or corrosion is suspected, WDI Group may recommend additional system-cleaning or remedial work.
10. Magnetic Filters
Where a readily accessible magnetic filter is fitted to the heating system, cleaning of the filter may be carried out as part of the service where appropriate.
If the filter is inaccessible, seized, damaged, leaking or requires replacement parts, additional work may be chargeable.
Cleaning a magnetic filter does not constitute a full system flush.
11. Condensate & Flue
Accessible boiler condensate and flue arrangements will be assessed as appropriate during servicing.
Any defects, blockages, deterioration or non-compliant existing arrangements requiring remedial work are not included within the standard service price unless specifically stated.
12. Manufacturer Warranty & Annual Service Reminders
Where the boiler is covered by a manufacturer's warranty, it is the Client's responsibility to ensure servicing is completed within the intervals required by that manufacturer.
Unless the manufacturer specifies otherwise, the Client should arrange a service within each 12-month period throughout the warranty period.
WDI Group may, as a courtesy, send annual service reminders by email, SMS, telephone or other means. These reminders are provided as an administrative convenience only and do not transfer responsibility for arranging the service to WDI Group.
The Client remains responsible for monitoring when the service is due and arranging it within the manufacturer's required period, whether or not a reminder is received.
WDI Group cannot accept responsibility for a missed service or loss, reduction or refusal of a manufacturer's warranty arising because a reminder was not sent, received, delivered, noticed or acted upon.
WDI Group cannot guarantee that a manufacturer will accept a warranty claim and is not responsible where a warranty is affected because servicing, maintenance, installation or other manufacturer requirements have not been met.
The Client should retain service records as evidence of maintenance.
13. Parts Required for Servicing
Some manufacturers require particular seals, gaskets, electrodes or service kits to be replaced at specified intervals or where their condition requires replacement.
Unless specifically included within the quoted service price, additional parts required during servicing may be chargeable.
Where reasonably practicable, the Client will be informed before additional chargeable parts are fitted.
14. Cleaning
Routine cleaning necessary to complete the manufacturer's standard service procedure is included.
Heavy contamination, extensive dismantling, specialist cleaning or remedial cleaning caused by poor maintenance, system contamination or abnormal appliance condition may require additional chargeable work.
15. Appliance Condition
WDI Group cannot restore deterioration caused by age, corrosion, previous poor maintenance, incorrect installation or previous third-party work through routine servicing.
Where an appliance is considered to be approaching the end of its economical or safe working life, WDI Group may recommend repair or replacement.
16. Service Documentation
Following completion, WDI Group will record relevant service information using the documentation or electronic records applicable to the service.
Where required, the Client should retain these records as evidence of annual servicing.
17. WDI Group Workmanship Warranty
Unless expressly stated otherwise, WDI Group provides a 12-month workmanship warranty covering work actually carried out by WDI Group during the service.
This does not provide a 12-month warranty against subsequent failure of the boiler or its existing components.
The workmanship warranty does not cover unrelated faults, manufacturer component failures, normal wear and tear, pre-existing defects, misuse, lack of maintenance, system contamination or interference by third parties.
Nothing within these terms affects the Client's statutory rights.
18. Payment
The service charge is payable for the inspection and servicing work undertaken.
The charge remains payable where the service identifies a defect, the appliance is found unsafe, additional repairs are recommended, or the Client subsequently decides not to proceed with recommended repairs.
Any additional diagnostic work, parts or repairs authorised by the Client will be charged separately.
19. Acceptance
By booking or instructing WDI Group to carry out a boiler service, the Client confirms acceptance of the agreed service and price, WDI Group's Standard Quotation Terms & Conditions, these Boiler Servicing Terms & Conditions and any additional terms specifically agreed for the booking.
Nothing within these terms affects the Client's statutory rights.
